Welcome to the new website of Abingdon Community Unit School District #217. The Board of Education, the administration, faculty and staff are all striving to make Abingdon a destination school district. We are continuing to meet the challenge providing education excellence for all students.
Abingdon CUSD 217 covers 89 square miles and serves approximately 760 students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. The district believes that technology serves an important role in education. Our district is the leader in the area with regard to technology integration with interactive whiteboards in every classroom, multiple student computers in every classroom, many classrooms with built-in student labs, mobile laptop lab computer carts, handheld iPads in every K-3 classroom, and the high school has its own state-of-the-art television studio.
Abingdon CUSD 217 partners with Carl Sandburg College to offer dual-credit courses to high school students and is a member of the Galesburg Area Vocational Cooperative (GAVC). Through GAVC, the district is able to offer courses in automotive technology, building trades, drafting & CAD, child care, EMT Basic, fire science, first responder, food service management, health careers/medical terminology, health occupations, law enforcement, intro to pharmacology, networking technology, and welding.
The district has also had recent success in many sports with playoff appearances and regional championships in multiple sports.
This is a district that is striving to continue to build on its outstanding reputation. We are constantly working to improve our school district. Although the improvement process is endless, it is our goal to provide an outstanding education and turn out well-rounded, community minded individuals. We invite you to come out and visit, meet our staff, and tour our facilities. We are ready and willing to share with you the great things happening at Abingdon CUSD 217.
